Mashpee Sewer Commission Minutes— July 19'h, 2005
Mashpee Town Hall—Selectman's meeting room
Attendees: Tom Fudala—Chairman
Don Desmarais—Clerk
Matt Berrelli, PE—newly appointed
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.
We took a vote on the commission organization and voted as follows;
Tom Fudala—Chairman
Don Desmarais. —Vice Chairman
Matt Berrelli, PE—Clerk
All positions were unanimously voted in favor.
As the Board Secretary was not present, the meeting was taped and Matt B. took notes.
Tom F. summarized the current programs in the works with regard to the MEP and the
TMDL report as well as on going contracts with Brian Howes and Stearns & Wheler.
The Water Environment Federation Membership fee for 2005-2006 was discussed. Don
D.motioned to approve the payment of$113.00 for the renewal membership fee. It was
seconded by Matt B. A vote was taken and unanimously passed.
Tom reviewed the status of the county WIC-Funded sewer system evaluation for
Popponesset Watershed. And extension out to 12/05 had been requested by Tom F. and
has been approved by the County Commissioners. The extension agreement has been
submitted to the Selectmen for their signature at their August.l meeting. The project is
likely to be complete by 9/05.
Tom reviewed the on going work on the USGS Wastewater Discharge Area Modeling.
Tom agreed to forward the PDF files to Don and Matt for review.
Next item discussed was the Steams&Wheler contract scope of work. The specification
has been revised to streamline the work required. The "pairs" of scenarios have been
removed. This was an approached that allowed for the modeling to reflect either 1) the
Town of Mashpee going forward without the action of abutting towns being considered,
as well as, 2) modeling to reflect all towns taking part in the implementation of the sewer
projects. The scope will now involve only the latter approach. The search and
interpretation of existing data collected by outside sources for Waquoit Bay has been
removed from this contract as the MEP report has been completed and the work is now
unnecessary.
