The same can be said for the scallop population <br />' as found at the time. The area seems to be of little commercial value in either <br /> f case, except for the possibility of a set of scallops occurring in commercial <br /> quantities at some future time. <br /> Even though access appears to be a problem for the general public <br /> except by boat, it is my opinion that the general area provides opportunity I <br /> for recreational scalloping and a limited recreational quahog fishery in the <br /> k intertidal and immediate subtidal zone. <br /> Therefore, it is recommended, that the area not be given over to <br /> private culture at this time, unless provision can be made to allow recreational <br /> scalloping and also allow recreational quahoging along the shore area. <br /> Depending upon the type of culture contemplated by the applicant, <br /> maybe another area might prove more suitable. <br /> Very truly yours, <br /> i <br /> JMH:EB John M.
