Article 15. <br /> To see if the Town will vote to expand, renovate, equip and furnish the Town Hall (Samuel <br /> Davis School) and all necessary access ways and for saidpurposes and for expenses incidental <br /> and related thereto, the Town vote to raise and appropriate or borrow a sum of money, and if by <br /> borrowing, the Treasurer with the approval of the Board of Selectmen be authorized to borrow at <br /> one time or from time to time, such sum of money under and pursuant to Chapter 44, Section 7 <br /> of the General Laws, or any other enabling authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town, or <br /> take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: The current Town Offices are located in the former Samuel Davis School, a circa <br /> 1930s facility with a 1970s addition which was transferred to Selectmen's control by the School <br /> Committee last year. This facility is badly in need of renovations to maintain the integrity of the <br /> original structure, and Town Offices are extremely cramped and working out of very poor <br /> conditions. This article seeks to fund the renovation of the existing building with additional <br /> office space added over the 1970s addition to preserve this historical resource while <br /> economically meeting the Town Office space needs for the next twenty years. <br /> t <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee does not recommend approval. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa <br /> I move the Town expand, renovate,equip and furnish the Town Hall (Samuel Davis School) and <br /> all necessary access ways and for said purposes and for expenses incidental and related thereto, <br /> the sum of $1,500,000.00 be appropriated and the Treasurer with the approval of the Board of <br /> Selectmen, be authorized to borrow at one time or from time to time, $1,500,000.00 under and <br /> pursuant to Chapter 44, Section 7(3) and 3(A), of the General Laws, or any other enabling <br /> authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor. <br /> Motion to amend to read $176,000.00 to replace heating system, air conditioning, repair roof and <br /> 4 <br /> s correct drainage. <br /> Motion to amend defeated at 8:47 p.m. <br /> Motion to appropriate and borrow $1,500,000.00 passes 138 to 36 at 8:54 p.m. <br /> Article 16. <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, borrow or transfer from available funds the <br /> sum of$438,527 to complete road improvement projects under Chapter 90 of the General Laws, <br /> or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by Director of Public Works <br /> Explanation: This article authorizes the use of State Grant funds for the next two-year Chapter <br /> 90 road improvement program. <br />
