utilizing part-time dispatch personnel to fill scheduling vacancies which would be best filled by <br /> full-time dispatch personnel having a higher level of training, skill, and experience. Secondly, <br /> with the E-911 telephone system scheduled for implementation sometime in the Spring of 1995, <br /> it is important to have a dispatcher supervisor to liaison between the dispatch center and the <br /> police department sergeant and the fire department lieutenant. This liaison is important to ensure <br /> proper coordination of inter-department and inter-department police and fire operations, and a <br /> smooth and lasting transition into the E-911 and computer aided dispatch systems for the police <br /> and fire departments. Moreover, the new supervisor's position will assist the police and fire <br /> departments by helping to provide training and proper management of a highly technical <br /> communications and information system.
