Secondly, with the E-911 telephone system scheduled for implementation sometime in the Spring of 1995, it is important to have a dispatcher supervisor to liaison between the dispatch center and the police department sergeant and the fire department lieutenant. This liaison is important to ensure proper coordination of inter-department and inter-department police and fire operations, and a smooth and lasting transition into the E-911 and computer aided dispatch systems for the police and fire departments. Moreover, the new supervisor's position will assist the police and fire departments by helping to provide training and proper management of a highly technical communications and information system. In addition, the supervisory position will provide strong management controls which are needed for short and long term success of the E-911 and computer aided dispatch systems. I move the Town vote to raise and appropriate $35,069.33 to create the position of Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor, with said funds to be apportioned as follows: $29,333 to the Public Safety Dispatcher Salary/Wage Account, $5,277 to the Employee Medical Insurance Account, $34 to the Group Insurance Account, and$425.33 to the Medicare Account.
