The half-time position has seen four <br /> different people as Assistant Conservation Agent. Such lack of continuity has also <br /> diminished our ability to carry out mandated duties. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> ARTICLE 14 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or transfer from available funds <br /> $80,000 to the Mashpee Waterways Dredging Account, funds to be expended under the <br /> direction of the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Waterways Commission <br /> Explanation: This article seeks funding to perform maintenance dredging of the <br /> Popponesset Bay and Waquoit Bay channels, when and as required, and to dredge <br /> 15,000 cubic yards from the Mashpee River. Permits already exist for the Popponesset <br /> Bay and Waquoit Bay dredging, and the cost ranges from $4.14 to $6.52 per cubic yard <br /> depending on the length of pipe required. Permits for dredging the Mashpee River are ; <br /> in the process of being obtained, and costs of dredging are not yet known. The cost of <br /> dredging will depend on the method approved for disposing of dredged material. The "> <br /> range of costs is from an estimated $10 per cubic yard to $30 per cubic yard. We are <br /> seeking the lowest cost approach consistent with environmental considerations. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> ARTICLE 15 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, borrow or transfer from available <br /> funds $440,903 to provide for road improvement projects under Chapter 90 related to <br /> road funds, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Director of Public Works <br /> Explanation: This article authorizes the use of state grant funds for FY2000 often <br /> referred to as Chapter 90 Funds. The Town of Mashpee is 100% reimbursed for the use <br /> of funds for roadway improvements. These revenues are from the gas tax as <br /> apportioned back to cities and towns. <br /> I'. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> 15 <br />
