Terms of the five members appointed by the Board of Selectmen shall expire annually on June <br /> 30. Vacancies shall be filled for any unexpired term in the same manner as in the case of <br /> original appointments. <br /> § 5-64. Organization; Meetings. <br /> The Committee shall elect annually a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Clerk. Said election shall <br /> take place at its first meeting after July 1 of each year. <br /> The Committee may meet as a whole, in working groups appointed by the whole, or in <br /> subcommittees appointed by the Chairman. For meetings of the Committee, a majority of the <br /> full membership shall be a quorum. A majority of such a quorum shall be required to approve a <br /> formal vote, except that a majority of the full Committee shall be required to adopt, endorse or <br /> amend a Housing Development Action Plan. <br /> § 5-65. Powers and duties. <br /> Said Committee shall be responsible for 1) assisting in any future updates to the Affordable <br /> Housing element of the Comprehensive Plan, 2) reviewing and submitting comments on any <br /> proposals for affordable housing projects submitted for approval to the Board of Selectmen <br /> under the Local Initiative Program or to the Zoning Board of Appeals under M.G.L. Chapter <br /> 40B, 3) identifying and facilitating opportunities for increased housing affordability in Mashpee <br /> on an ongoing basis, 4) working with the Planning Department and other agencies to develop a <br /> Housing Development Action Plan under the provisions of 760 CMR 46.00 and seeking its <br /> approval by the Board of Selectmen and the Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of <br /> Housing & Community Development and 5) maintaining communication with similar groups in <br /> other towns as well as federal, state and county agencies and non-profit affordable housing <br /> organizations. The activities and recommendations of the Committee shall be consistent with the <br /> goals, objectives, policies and action plan of the Town's adopted Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Said Committee may also serve as, and may perform the functions and duties of, the Town's <br /> "Local Housing Partnership", provided that all of the legal and regulatory requirements for <br /> creation of such a"Partnership" are met. <br /> or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: The creation of this Committee, intended to oversee and promote the Town's <br /> affordable housing activities, is recommended by the Town's adopted Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> Motion: I move Article 33 be voted as printed in the warrant with the exception of the phrase, <br /> "or take any other action relating thereto". <br /> Motion made to dispense with reading of article at 7:44 P.M. <br /> i <br /> y <br />
