i{ <br /> preserve, restore, and maintain the historic features <br /> of the Town of Mashpee, and to perform any ,other <br /> functions provided by law by such bodies. <br /> Article 2. 13 General Provisions <br /> ' Section 2. 13. 1 Special Committees. At any Town Meeting, when <br /> special committees are appointed or elected, a vote <br /> shall be passed naming the compensation of the com- <br /> mittee and also a sum of money for expenses of such <br /> committee; otherwise, the Selectmen shall not draw <br /> 4F: orders on the Treasurer for either services or ex- <br /> penses. <br /> Section 2. 13. 2 Consultation.With Town Counsel. =All departments are <br /> authorized and empowered to consult Town Counsel at <br /> any time in connection with their duties, subject to <br /> the provisions of Section 2. 4. 5 of this by-law. <br /> Section 2. 13. 3 Indebtedness to the Town. Any persons indebted to <br /> the town for taxes or of rwise shall have such debt <br /> deducted before payment by the Treasurer from any <br /> sum due him from the town for work on roads or for <br /> any other service performed, except as otherwise <br /> prohibited by law. <br /> Section 2. 13.4 Term of Appointments. All appointments made by the <br /> Selectmen shall be for one-year terms expiring on <br /> June 30 in each year, unless otherwise specified in <br /> this by-law or in the General Laws of the Common- <br /> wealth. <br />' Section 2.13.5 Members appointed to a board, committee, or commission, wherein <br /> the term of office is not statutorily designated by the General <br /> Laws of the Commonwealth shall be subject to removal from office <br /> by the Board of Selectmen if the member is absent without just <br /> cause from three or more successive meetings and a majority of <br /> the other members of the board, committee or commission votes <br /> to request the Board of Selectmen to remove such absenting <br /> member and after a public hearing is held by the Board of <br /> Selectmen, and a unanimous vote is taken to remove the member. <br /> (Amended at Annual Town Meeting May 2, 1983 and approved by <br /> Attorney General October 12, 1983.) <br /> S.` <br />�r <br /> l' -14- <br />
