BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 1990 PAGE 3. 0 At this time Selectman Jacobson moved to appoint Edwin Beeby to the Conservation Commission to fill the vacancy which has existed since June 30, 1989 . Selectman Lawrence questioned the Commission as to whether they had interviewed all candidates who had expressed interest, as he was made aware that a couple of the candidates have not been contacted . At this time Selectman Lawrence moved to appoint Ray Guillette to the Conservation Commission. Selectman Jacobson stated that in the past the Board has always gone with the recommendation of the Board or Commission. Selectman Hanson moved to deferred this matter for four weeks and asked that the Conservation Commission interview all candidates for the positions of full time and associate member. Selectman Carter seconded the motion. Selectmen Lawrence and Gottlieb were also in favor. Selectman Jacobson opposed . 2 ) Budget Meeting - Selectman Gottlieb advised the Board of the budget meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 1990 at 6 p .m. •to go over the budget . 3 ) Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club Inc . Land - The Board of Selectmen reviewed communications from Attorney Richard Largay and Town Counsel , Joseph J . Reardon relative to the Board ' s right of first refusal for property owned by the Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club Inc . Attorney Reardon advised Selectmen that he had received a copy of the Notice of Intent to Sell Land Assessed for Recreation Use owned by the Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club, Inc . Said notice was given in accordance with Chapter 61B, Section 9 of the General Laws . Mr. Reardon explained that this law provides that any land assessed on the basis of recreational use shall not be sold for or converted to residential , industrial or commercial use unless the Town has been notified of the intent to sell . Selectmen Gottlieb stated that the Board had previously voted to not exercise its right of first refusal for the above referenced property, but have since been advised by Attorney Largay that such action should have been taken at a public hearing and that notice of the hearing should be given in accordance with the provisions of the Open Meeting Law. Selectmen Gottlieb noted that the notice of this hearing was filed with the Town Clerk and posted . Selectman Gottlieb asked if anyone in attendance had any comment relative to this matter. Being none, Selectman Lawrence moved to • not exercise its right of first refusal for the property known as Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club, Inc . , Assessors Map 28, Block 18, Lot 0. Selectman Carter seconded the motion. Dote was Unanimous . l
