BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 1990 <br /> PAGE 3. <br /> 0 <br /> At this time Selectman Jacobson moved to appoint Edwin Beeby to <br /> the Conservation Commission to fill the vacancy which has existed <br /> since June 30, 1989 . <br /> Selectman Lawrence questioned the Commission as to whether they <br /> had interviewed all candidates who had expressed interest, as he <br /> was made aware that a couple of the candidates have not been <br /> contacted . At this time Selectman Lawrence moved to appoint Ray <br /> Guillette to the Conservation Commission. <br /> Selectman Jacobson stated that in the past the Board has always <br /> gone with the recommendation of the Board or Commission. <br /> Selectman Hanson moved to deferred this matter for four weeks and <br /> asked that the Conservation Commission interview all candidates <br /> for the positions of full time and associate member. Selectman <br /> Carter seconded the motion. Selectmen Lawrence and Gottlieb were <br /> also in favor. Selectman Jacobson opposed . <br /> 2 ) Budget Meeting - Selectman Gottlieb advised the Board of the <br /> budget meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 1990 at 6 p .m. <br /> •to go over the budget . <br /> 3 ) Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club Inc . Land - The Board of Selectmen <br /> reviewed communications from Attorney Richard Largay and Town <br /> Counsel , Joseph J . Reardon relative to the Board ' s right of first <br /> refusal for property owned by the Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club <br /> Inc . <br /> Attorney Reardon advised Selectmen that he had received a copy of <br /> the Notice of Intent to Sell Land Assessed for Recreation Use <br /> owned by the Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club, Inc . Said notice <br /> was given in accordance with Chapter 61B, Section 9 of the General <br /> Laws . Mr. Reardon explained that this law provides that any land <br /> assessed on the basis of recreational use shall not be sold for or <br /> converted to residential , industrial or commercial use unless the <br /> Town has been notified of the intent to sell . <br /> Selectmen Gottlieb stated that the Board had previously voted to <br /> not exercise its right of first refusal for the above referenced <br /> property, but have since been advised by Attorney Largay that such <br /> action should have been taken at a public hearing and that notice <br /> of the hearing should be given in accordance with the provisions <br /> of the Open Meeting Law. Selectmen Gottlieb noted that the notice <br /> of this hearing was filed with the Town Clerk and posted . <br /> Selectman Gottlieb asked if anyone in attendance had any comment <br /> relative to this matter. Being none, Selectman Lawrence moved to <br /> • not exercise its right of first refusal for the property known as <br /> Mashpee Wampanoag Rod & Gun Club, Inc . , Assessors Map 28, Block <br /> 18, Lot 0.
