.fy <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br /> • TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 1990 <br /> PRESENT: Selectmen Gottlieb, Lawrence, Carter, Jacobson, Hanson, <br /> Town Counsel Joseph Reardon, Interim Executive Secretary <br /> Jeffrey Nutting, Administrative Assistant Joyce Mason <br /> GUESTS: Marilyn Ferren, Jane Stockbridge, Bill Hauck, Ernie <br /> Virgilio <br /> The meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Mr. Lawrence moved to accept the Regular Session minutes of December 4 <br /> 18, 1989. Mrs. Jacobson seconded the motion. Mr. Carter and Mr . <br /> Gottlieb were in favor. Mr. Hanson was not present for the vote. <br /> • APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 1 . Benefits for Non-Standard (-20 Hour) Employees - Marilyn <br /> Ferren and Jane Stockbridge attended to make <br /> recommendations to the Board for benefits for part-time <br /> employees who work less than 20 hours per week. The <br /> recommendations were; one week paid vacation, 1 1/2 hours <br /> sick time for every 100 hours worked and $50. 00 educational <br /> benefit. <br /> Ms. Ferren stated that in her research, she found that the <br /> majority of towns do not offer benefits to employees who <br /> work less than 20 hours per week. <br /> Mr. Carter moved to institute a program to require a one <br /> year probationary period, and that the vacation and sick <br /> time be pro-rated based on the existing benefit package for <br /> part-time employees (20 hours or more per week) . Mr. <br /> Carter Lawrence seconded the motion. This will not include <br /> an education benefit. All were in favor. <br /> The Personnel Board was requested to meet with the Board of <br /> Selectmen again in two weeks with recommendations of which <br /> categories of part-time employees should be included In <br /> • this benefit package and what the minimum number of hours <br /> worked should be. <br />
