l <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br /> • TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 1990 <br /> PAGE TWO <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> #1 (Cont. ) <br /> Mr. Hanson asked whether an employee who works over 20 <br /> hours per week, but is not interested in benefits could <br /> sign a waiver of benefits. Mr. Reardon stated that the <br /> Town may be held liable on the basis of discriminatory <br /> practice. Mr . Reardon added, that if an employee had <br /> insurance available through his/her spouse, the benefits <br /> could possibly be waived. The Personnel Board was directed J <br /> to research this issue. <br /> 2 . Coombs School Change Orders #18 - 23 - Mr . Hanson stated <br /> that he met with Building Inspector, Doug Boyd and that the <br /> only change order that still needs to be reviewed is <br /> change order #20 (should have been in specs) . <br /> • Mr. Carter moved to accept change orders 18, 19, 21 , 22 and <br /> 23 and that Mr. Hanson will review change order #20 with <br /> Town Counsel . Mr. Lawrence seconded the motion. All were <br /> in favor. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1 . Pre-Employment Physicals - Mrs. Jacobson moved to accept <br /> the recommendation to waive pre-employment physicals for <br /> the following employees; part-time clerical help ( less than <br /> 25 hours) , part-time library assistants and aides , part- <br /> time custodial help, all temporary help, all seasonal <br /> positions - - lifeguards and head guards, gate attendants, <br /> permit sticker personnel , playground coordinator, <br /> recreation aides, waterway assistants, assistant <br /> harbormaster, shellfish assistants. Any position that <br /> deals with public safety, i .e. , special police officers and <br /> call firefighthers would be required to have a physical . <br /> Mr. Lawrence seconded the motion. All were in favor. <br /> • <br />
