LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> ' February 7, 1995 <br /> Mashpee Middle School Conference Room <br /> Present: Absent: Also Present: <br /> Elisa Meunier Linda Young Gus Frederick <br /> Maryanne Gibbs Bob Tippo <br /> George Costa N. Feldman <br /> Ron Roberts <br /> I. Qpening of Meeting= Elisa opened the meeting at 4:45 PM. <br /> II. Secretary's Report - Maureen made a motion to approve December 6 meeting with one <br /> correction. Secretary's report should read November 18, 1994 (not October 18, 1994). Maryanne <br /> seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br /> M. Communications - <br /> 1. Barnstable County Health and Human Serv. Ad. Council presents - <br /> a. Task Force on Children 2/21/95, 2:30 PM at Barnstable Superior Court House. <br /> 2. Cape Cod Regional Tobacco Control Program will offer a stop Smoking clinic ($5.00 donation) <br /> for Town employees and will communicate further with Gus concerning a convenient time for <br /> those interested. <br /> 3. JTEC family provider training program will be offered to young adult/teen parents with a <br /> March deadline and classes to start in the fall. <br /> 4. Dr. DeMoura sent out a letter regarding Circle of Caring Mmes for their summer camp and <br /> MMS usage. <br /> 5. Gus reviewed a letter sent to a soccer parent concerning an incident that took place at the <br /> final indoor soccer game. <br /> 6. Discussion took place on recent additions to Department library. Rec., Park, and Open <br /> space standards and guidelines book added to the department. <br /> IV. Reports - <br /> A. Old Business - <br /> 1. Budget - Lifeguards will be level funded at this time. Gus feels he can work with this. <br /> Swim lessons will be offered free of charge this summer. Replacing old equipment and <br /> buying new was decreased. However, part of this was a water tank which the DPW has <br /> in their equipment budget for Heritage Park. <br /> 2. Capital Improvement Program -All areas have been pushed to 1997. However, the <br /> summer camp building is being discussed. <br /> 3. Hirsh School - nothing to report at this time. <br /> 4. Gus and Dr. DeMoura discussed a Grant for lunch, concerning our summer camp <br /> programing. Gus would like to offer canoe, bike. field trips, and overnight camping. <br /> Maryanne suggested using Mashpee youths as CIT. <br /> 5. Youth commission - Additional youths will be joining. Gus anticipates a Youth <br /> Council forming from this. <br /> B. New Business - <br /> 1. Friday Night Snorts Program started February 3. There is a one-time fee of$5.00 and <br /> then .50 each Friday in attendance. Structured sports activities are offered to students <br /> grades 4 - 8. <br />
