Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 4 <br /> February 23, 1998 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> CorrespQndence from Plume Advisory Committ= <br /> Elias McQuaid,Board of Health Agent, and Plume Advisory Committee <br /> member submitted correspondence to the Board in a memo dated <br /> February 20, 1997 relative to the LF-4 site adjacent to the Otis Trailer <br /> Village in Mashpee. <br /> The Plume Advisory Committee has recommended the Board assist in <br /> the clean-up process to remove LF-4 debris. The debris represents a <br /> public safety hazard. <br /> Mr. McQuaid indicated in his memo that it is the Town's responsibility <br /> to provide an excavator to remove the LF4 site debris. A low bid has been <br /> received in the amount of$2,085 for this purpose. <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to obtain further information with respect to <br /> this regard. Mr. Whritenour was directed to develop contract language with the <br /> assistance of Town Counsel to indemnify the Town. <br /> It was noted that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection <br /> is intervening in the site clean-up process to ensure investigation, and the <br /> assignment of responsibility to the appropriate parties for each phase of the <br /> clean-up process. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Discussion of Watershed Management Committee: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Watershed Management Committee <br /> dated February 3, 1998 requesting the Board appoint a new Selectmen's <br /> representative to the committee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to appoint Selectman Curtis Frye <br /> as a member of the Watershed Management Committee,and Chairman <br /> Pro-Tem for the purpose of re-organization. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Frye abstained. <br />
