Board of Selectmen
Minutes 6
January 5, 1998
OLD BUSINESS:
Personnel Department Study Report- (continued)
Joseph Dellagala, a former chairman of the Personnel Board stated that he
agrees with the study, but disagrees with the way Mashpee is heading. A
manager for the past forty years, he understands the complexities of personnel.
Mr. Dellagala suggested the town take advantage of free expertise.
Personnel Board member, Carole Dunivan indicated the it is important to have
a support system for non-union grievances. It is important for the town to
continue with the Personnel Board to conduct interviews and assist the
Personnel Administrator when necessary.
Discussion followed. It is the consensus of the Board to amend the Personnel
Department Study document to designate a personnel committee or panel to
conduct interviews and assist the Personnel Administrator. Town Counsel
will be consulted with respect to liability issues.
Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to postpone approval of the
Personnel Department Study until the next scheduled meeting, and
direct Mr.Whritenour to incorporate amendments to the proposal
with the assistance of the Personnel Administrator.
Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Request for Additional Street light ;
Correspondence was received from the Street Light Committee
dated December 19, 1997 requesting the Board approve the addition of
ten street lights for public safety. All costs are assumed within the budget
framework.
Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the(10) Street Lights
as recommended, and forward the request to Commonwealth Electric.
Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
