Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 4 <br /> January 4, 1999 <br /> OLD BUSINESS_ <br /> Request for Unpaid Leave of Absenceā¢ (continued) <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the unpaid <br /> leave of absence of Cynthia Sturges,Community Development <br /> Administrator as requested. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Policy for Recruitment Selection and Appointment of Police Officers: <br /> William C. Przybylek, Chief of Police and Marilyn Farren,Personnel <br /> Administrator were present to discuss the latest revision of the proposed new <br /> Police Officer Policy for Selection and Appointment with members of the <br /> Board of Selectmen and interested public. It was noted that Mrs. Mason <br /> also served on the sub-committee to develop the proposal for the Selectmen's <br /> review and consideration. <br /> Chief Przybylek discussed several key aspects of the policy that would <br /> establish procedures for the recruitment, evaluation and selection of candidates <br /> to the position of Police Officer in the Mashpee Police Department. <br /> The Town will strive to identify and employ the best candidates through its <br /> process informed Chief Przybylek. Subsequent to the initial qualifying written <br /> exam, incentives are provided to Mashpee residents and candidates who possess <br /> desirable qualifications in a weighed scoring system which is used in the initial <br /> evaluation of applicants. <br /> Chief Przybylek indicated that the current eligibility list shall be retained and <br /> evaluated. It was noted that a potential candidate is eligible to apply for a revised <br /> evaluation every six months. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the weighed scoring system. It was noted <br /> that a full-time Mashpee resident would receive a maximum of 10 points. An <br /> additional five points are given to a Mashpee Special Police Officer, and three <br /> points are added to the score for successful completion of the MPD Cadet <br /> Program. <br />
