2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 8, 1999 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission member, Ann Whitlow requested the <br /> Selectmen declare the first week of March as Mashpee Historical Week. <br /> March 3, 1999 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Mashpee Historical <br /> Commission. Planned activities include photo exhibits at the Archives <br /> and school festivities to commemorate the event. <br /> Proclamation of Mashpee History Week: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to place the above topic as an <br /> agenda item of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to proclaim the week of <br /> March 1 —7, 1999 as Mashpee Historical Week <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Director of Public Works re: Lights at Heritage Park: <br /> Greg Taylor, Public Works Director was present to recommend the Board <br /> approve the low bid of$41,000 from Acushnet Power to provide lighting <br /> at the Heritage Park facility. <br /> It was noted that Town Meeting appropriated the sum of$15,000 for the <br /> project. The Little League contributed $20,000. Mr. Taylor suggested the <br /> Board approve the transfer of funds from DPW roadwork to adjust the <br /> shortfall of$6,000 to supply power from Route 130 to the playing fields. <br /> Mr. Whritenour, Town Administrator concurred with the recommendation <br /> of the DPW Director to augment roadwork funds to complete the project. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the base bid from <br /> Acushnet Power in the amount of$41,000 to supply lighting at <br /> Heritage Park as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
