z <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes-revised <br /> Monday, July 10, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Board of Health: (continued) <br /> After an in-depth discussion, the Board of Health and Board of Selectmen <br /> agreed to sponsor an article for future Town Meeting approval to create a <br /> separate stand alone Human Service Department. Representation from the <br /> two applicable boards will meet to discuss formatting procedures to create <br /> said department. <br /> In other business, the daily operation and function of the Transfer Station <br /> was discussed. Recycling efforts and infrastructure improvements have <br /> been prioritized to bring forth advancement and financial stability in a <br /> proficient manner. The issue of management under the direction of the <br /> Department of Public Works was considered. <br /> The Board of Selectmen agreed to further review the operation of the <br /> Transfer Station in conjunction with the Board of Health. The operation <br /> as it now stands will remain under the direction of the Board of Health as <br /> the Town moves forward in a consistent and orderly process to better <br /> handle the management and operation of the general waste stream. <br /> The issue of the Transfer Station management possibly being brought <br /> under the Town's administration through the Department of Public Works <br /> was discussed. It was agreed that both Boards' would work towards <br /> familiarizing themselves with the operation and set July 1, 2001 as the <br /> deadline to work towards making the transition. It was further agreed that <br /> the Board of Selectmen would continue to oversee the contract and funds <br /> associated with the Transfer Station operation, with the Board of Health <br /> overseeing the day to day tasks. <br /> Vanasse Hangen Brustlin: <br /> The Director of Public Works was present with representatives from <br /> Vanasse Hangen Brustlin to review three conceptual alternatives to the <br /> Route 130/Great Neck Road North intersection project. <br /> The three concepts considered include; a stop control (unsignalized), a <br /> traffic signal system control and a conventional roundabout. Each <br /> alternative was discussed in public forum. <br />
