z Board of Selectmen Minutes-revised Monday, July 10, 2000 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Board of Health: (continued) After an in-depth discussion, the Board of Health and Board of Selectmen agreed to sponsor an article for future Town Meeting approval to create a separate stand alone Human Service Department. Representation from the two applicable boards will meet to discuss formatting procedures to create said department. In other business, the daily operation and function of the Transfer Station was discussed. Recycling efforts and infrastructure improvements have been prioritized to bring forth advancement and financial stability in a proficient manner. The issue of management under the direction of the Department of Public Works was considered. The Board of Selectmen agreed to further review the operation of the Transfer Station in conjunction with the Board of Health. The operation as it now stands will remain under the direction of the Board of Health as the Town moves forward in a consistent and orderly process to better handle the management and operation of the general waste stream. The issue of the Transfer Station management possibly being brought under the Town's administration through the Department of Public Works was discussed. It was agreed that both Boards' would work towards familiarizing themselves with the operation and set July 1, 2001 as the deadline to work towards making the transition. It was further agreed that the Board of Selectmen would continue to oversee the contract and funds associated with the Transfer Station operation, with the Board of Health overseeing the day to day tasks. Vanasse Hangen Brustlin: The Director of Public Works was present with representatives from Vanasse Hangen Brustlin to review three conceptual alternatives to the Route 130/Great Neck Road North intersection project. The three concepts considered include; a stop control (unsignalized), a traffic signal system control and a conventional roundabout. Each alternative was discussed in public forum.
