11 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 24, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Waterways Commission— Update: (continued) <br /> Discussion followed with respect to disposal alternatives. The information <br /> will be re-evaluated when sediment data becomes available. <br /> Approximately thirty-five concerned residents attended the update on the <br /> Mashpee River dredging project. Ed Baker stated that reports indicate that <br /> dredging will have an impact on the water quality. There are a great <br /> amount of constituents waiting for their turn explained Mr. Baker who <br /> respectfully requested the Board place the dredging of the Mashpee River <br /> in an active state to get the job done in an expeditious fashiontvt ,aKei <br /> was applauded for his comments. <br /> AFCEE: <br /> Michael Minior, AFCEE and Steve Hunt of Jacobs Engineering were <br /> present to request the Board approve the installation of two additional <br /> monitoring wells to further define the FS-1 plume. <br /> The wells are proposed to be installed along Great Hay Road on vacant <br /> property. The area is remote located several hundred feet south of <br /> Ashumet Road. <br /> Correspondence was received from the Director of Public Works dated <br /> July 19, 2000 recommending the remote areas be gated in a similar <br /> fashion to the Quashnet Bogs to allow foot traffic and emergency access. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to grant AFCEE permission to <br /> clear an area approximately 2400 square feet, and an area <br /> approximately 180 square feet to install (2)additional monitoring <br /> wells as part of the FS-1 investigation as defined. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
