7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 8, 2001 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works indicated that the Massachusetts <br /> Highway Department would be replacing the Quinaquissett wooden <br /> bridge. The Selectmen will soon be receiving a request to approve the <br /> closure. It was noted that the project is 80% federally funded. The nine- <br /> month construction phase is anticipated to commence in March as weather <br /> dictates. A re-routing program will be considered prior to the construction <br /> of the "School Street" bridge. <br /> In other business, Mr. Taylor notified the Selectmen of a recent car <br /> accident that involved the Town sander. Presently, the department is <br /> seeking an emergency replacement for the disabled vehicle. Insurance <br /> initiatives are being considered at this time. <br /> Dr. Elizabeth Petti brought to the Selectmen's attention;the issue of <br /> increased cable costs and associated cable programs. The matter will be <br /> discussed with the Cable Advisory Committee at their next scheduled <br /> meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Local Inspector: <br /> Selectman Marsters stepped down for the above referenced appointment. <br /> Being no quorum, the Board tabled the issue to their next scheduled <br /> meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2001. <br />
