8 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 8, 2001 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Joel Bornstein, a resident of Bayridge indicated that large boulders <br /> presently block the Simmons Narrow Road access. For safety reasons, he <br /> requested the Board act upon this matter. It was noted that the road is a <br /> private way, and is not within the Town's jurisdiction to work on a private <br /> way. The matter has been referred to Town Counsel. The Town <br /> Administrator indicated that he will review all material disseminated by <br /> Mr. Bornstein, and report to the Selectmen upon available information. <br /> In other business, George Benway invited the public to attend an <br /> exploratory discussion on February 3, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Quashnet <br /> School. JeffBennedict;author of"Without Reservation" will be speaking <br /> in an open forum. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Administrative Assistant—DPW: <br /> Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works recommended the Selectman <br /> appoint Susan Held to the position of Administrative Assistant to the <br /> Department of Public Works. Ms. Held is presently working as a Town of <br /> Mashpee employed in the Accounting Department. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to appoint Susan Held to the <br /> full-time position of Administrative Assistant to the Department of <br /> Public Works at Step 1 pay rate scale. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Mr. Taylor recommended that the above referenced employee begin her <br /> II position at Step 4. It was noted that the current administrative assistant is <br /> at Step 9. Discussion followed. Mr. Taylor suggested that the employee <br /> receive a step increase after a six-month review. The matter was taken <br /> under advisement and will be further addressed at the next regular <br /> Selectmen's Meeting. <br />
