8 <br /> • Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 20, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> DPW: (continued) <br /> Utility Relocation for Sidewalk Project: <br /> Verizon has requested permission to work along the side of Route 28 from <br /> May 27, 2002 through August 2002 to relocate and remove utility poles. <br /> The Director of Public Works recommended approval with the stipulation <br /> that two lanes of traffic would be maintained. Summer traffic concerns <br /> were considered. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to defer work associated to the <br /> removal and relocation of utility poles to the fall of 2002. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> • Doris Dottridge: <br /> Correspondence was received from Doris Dottridge dated May 6, 2002 in <br /> appreciation to the Board of Selectmen for granting her a one year leave of <br /> absence from the Mashpee Police Department to pursue a career with the <br /> Massachusetts State Parole Board. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to accept the letter from Ms. <br /> Dottridge as dated May 6, 2002. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalan. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Town of Plymouth—Resolution: <br /> The Town of Plymouth remitted communication to the Selectmen dated <br /> May 9, 2002 relative to Joint Resolution#34. Hearings are scheduled in <br /> May to approve a site at Yucca Mountain,Nevada for the development of <br /> a repository for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste and spent <br /> nuclear fuel <br /> The Selectmen were requested to support the Senate Committee on Energy <br /> • and Natural Resources and request State Legislators to vote yes on Joint <br /> Resolution#34. <br />
