7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 3, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing—Holland Mills Road Conversion: <br /> Chairman Taylor opened the Public Hearing on the conversion of Holland <br /> Mills from a private to a public way. The hearing notice was read aloud as <br /> published. Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works was present to discuss <br /> the proposed conversion process. Approximately thirty interested <br /> residents attended the hearing. <br /> A betterment cost proposal in the amount of$122,866 was presented to <br /> reflect forty-eight(48)property owners. The maximum betterment <br /> assessment was estimated to reflect a not to exceed sum of$2,600 per <br /> property owner. <br /> A second petition to consist of at least 50% of the property owners is <br /> necessary for the October Town Meeting vote of authorization. The <br /> deadline for article submission is July 8, 2002. Upon voter approval, the <br /> project would commence in approximately 1.5 to 2 years. The betterment <br /> would then be assessed to the referenced property owners approximately <br /> six months after project completion. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalan. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
