2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 9, 2002 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Kids Klub Summer Camp: <br /> The Selectmen were in receipt of three letters of appreciation from three <br /> residents in support of the Kids Klub Summer Camp program. The <br /> capable and caring staff of the Leisure Services summer camp made the <br /> program a memorable experience for the children involved. <br /> In response,the Selectmen directed the Town Administrator to remit <br /> letters of appreciation to Gus Frederick, Leisure Services Director and Peg <br /> Geary, Camp Director for their successful program. <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts—Watershed Action Plan for Cape Cod: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Executive Office of Environmental <br /> Affairs dated August 12, 2002 in request of participation in the <br /> development of a Watershed Action Plan for Cape Cod. <br /> Selectman George Green offered to serve as Mashpee's representative. <br /> The Cape Cod Watershed Team is comprised of representatives from <br /> municipalities, non-profit organizations, state and federal agencies and <br /> interested citizens. <br /> Cape Cod Commission—Community Development Plan: <br /> The Board of Selectmen was in receipt of communication from the Cape <br /> Cod Commission dated August 26, 2002 relative to Community <br /> Development plans under Executive Order 418. The Executive Order <br /> allows towns to apply for funds to develop local plans or undertake related <br /> implementation activities. <br /> At the last Town Planners meeting, there was a general consensus on the <br /> concept of using the transportation portion of funding, up to $10,000 per <br /> town to undertake a regional transit planning initiative to be coordinated <br /> by the Cape Cod Commission. (Executive Order 418: Community <br /> Development Plans-Support for Proposed Regional Transit Plan) <br /> The planning effort would assist the work of the Regional Transit Task <br /> Force and would be matched by the National Seashore. It was noted that <br /> the remaining$20,000 would remain available for the town's use to <br /> undertake other planning projects under the state's program. <br />
