6 <br /> • Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 9, 2002 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Police Recruitment Policy: (continued) <br /> Chief Cooper has recommended that a Comprehensive Background <br /> Investigation be conducted after a candidate is offered a conditional <br /> appointment by the Board of Selectmen. The present policy provides for <br /> the Comprehensive Background Investigation for all candidates who <br /> successfully pass the oral interview. <br /> In addition to the recommended changes to the Police Recruitment, <br /> Evaluation and Selection Policy for appointment of Mashpee Police <br /> Officers, wording relative to the acceptance of the entry level examination <br /> from the Police Corps for scores 70%or greater was incorporated into the <br /> change request. Police Corps Academy applicants and regular exam <br /> applicants shall be integrated into one list. <br /> Staff Sergeant Hadfield, Police Corps representative discussed the benefits <br /> • of the academy located at the former Naval Air Station in the Town of <br /> Weymouth. It was noted that Police Corps applicants are an option of <br /> recruitment and not a replacement of new hires for the Mashpee Police <br /> Department. The starting salary would remain at the Step I pay scale. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to accept the recommended policy <br /> changes and incorporate said changes into the Police Recruitment, <br /> Evaluation, and Selection Policy for the Appointment of Police <br /> Officers in the Mashpee Police Department. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 40. <br /> Selectman Cahalane absent. <br />
