2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> • March 29, 2004 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> School Committee—Budget Line Item: <br /> The Board of Selectmen met with the School Committee for the purpose <br /> of reviewing the budget line item for fiscal year 2005. At the last <br /> Selectmen's Meeting, the Finance Committee indicated that they voted <br /> unanimously to support a School budget of$16,984,751. The line item <br /> sum is $100,000 more than the recommendation set forth by the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the recommended increase in the <br /> School budget, and maintaining concurrence with the Finance Committee. <br /> Selectman Green stated that he would not vote to support the increase, and <br /> suggested the matter go before the voters in October. <br /> School Committee Chairman Peter Thomas indicated that the School <br /> Committee is prepared to support the recommendation for the $100,000 <br /> increase to be in accord with the Board of Selectmen to maintain a united <br /> front at Town Meeting. <br /> School Committee member Theresa Cook motioned to recommend a <br /> School Department budget request of$16,984,751 for fiscal year 2005. <br /> Janice Mills seconded the motion. The vote of support was unanimous. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to amend the omnibus budget to <br /> reflect the Selectmen's line item recommendation of$16,984,751 to <br /> support the School budget for fiscal year 2005. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-1. <br /> Selectman Green opposed. <br />
