7
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 29, 2004
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
WBNERR—South Cape Beach Restoration Project Update:
Brendan Annett of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
(WBNERR) and Georgeanne Keer,of the Massachusetts Office of Coastal
Zone Management—Wetland Restoration Program(CZM-WRP) were
present to discuss the salt marsh at South Cape Beach that has been
degraded as a result of restricted tidal flow by undersized culverts at the
road crossings.
The culverts are old in need of repair and replacement. Larger sized
culverts would restore tidal flow and improve the ecological health of the
salt marsh.
A vote of approval was requested for work on Town owned property, and
the designation of a contact/liaison was recommended to represent the
Town in the project proposal.
Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to support the South Cape
Beach Salt Marsh Restoration project in their endeavor and request
the parties meet with the South Cape Beach Advisory Committee
(SCBAC)regarding contact/liaison to represent the Town in the
project.
Motion seconded by Selectman Green.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
