3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 26, 2004 <br /> NEW BUSINESS; <br /> Annroval to Advertise to Fill Vacant Position: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the vacancy created by the <br /> termination of Police Officer Paul A. Coronella. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to advertise to fill the vacant <br /> Police Officer position created by the termination of Paul Coronella. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Sergeant Umina—School Resource Officer Grant Proposal: <br /> Chief Cooper requested the Selectmen approve the grant application to the <br /> United States Department of Justice for a School Resource Officer. The <br /> grant would allow the Mashpee Police Department to assign an officer <br /> full-time as a School Resource Officer. <br /> The three-year grant totals$125,000. It requires the Town to fund the <br /> fourth year. Approval must include an article for the October 2004 Town <br /> Meeting warrant which is needed to fund an additional police officer <br /> needed to replace an incumbent police officer who will be assigned as a <br /> School Resource Officer pursuant to the other conditions required by the <br /> DOJ Grant. <br /> The Selectmen agreed to defer discussions to the meeting of Monday, May <br /> 3, 2004 to obtain a full voting quorum. It was noted that the Selectmen <br /> recently instituted a hiring freeze. The deadline for the grant application is <br /> May 17, 2004. <br />
