2 Board of Selectmen • Minutes May 9, 2005 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Public Comment: Barbara Nichols, 23 Melissa Avenue, secretary to the Mashpee Lake Management Committee voiced concern as a citizen with respect to the present level of Mashpee Pond. The high water level has caused shoreline damage and ecological problems. Ms.Nichols indicated that debris is presently blocking the dam. She suggested that a lake management plan be developed to alleviate property damage and shoreline siltation. William Marsters, 100 Lakewood Drive also voiced concern with regards to the state of the Mashpee Pond, and recommended to form a management committee to specifically monitor and manage the pond. Charles McClunin, Melissa Avenue also related concern toward the need for a general maintenance program to clean and check the spillway on a regular basis. In response, the Selectmen agreed to request the Harbormaster/Herring • Warden and a representative from the Conservation Commission attend the next scheduled Lake Management Committee meeting. The Town Manager indicated that she would also attend the meeting which is held at Town Hall on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Reorganization—Board of Selectmen: Chairman Cahalane welcomed newly elected Selectman Theresa Cook to the Board of Selectmen and opened the nomination process for the purpose of reorganization. Selectman Taylor voted to nominate Selectmen George Green to serve as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Selectman Cook seconded the nomination. VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. Selectman Green abstained. Selectman Green voted to nominate Selectman Wayne Taylor to serve Y Y as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Selectman Cook seconded the nomination. VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. Selectman Taylor abstained. •
