2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> • Minutes <br /> May 9, 2005 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Barbara Nichols, 23 Melissa Avenue, secretary to the Mashpee Lake <br /> Management Committee voiced concern as a citizen with respect to the <br /> present level of Mashpee Pond. The high water level has caused shoreline <br /> damage and ecological problems. Ms.Nichols indicated that debris is <br /> presently blocking the dam. She suggested that a lake management plan <br /> be developed to alleviate property damage and shoreline siltation. <br /> William Marsters, 100 Lakewood Drive also voiced concern with regards <br /> to the state of the Mashpee Pond, and recommended to form a <br /> management committee to specifically monitor and manage the pond. <br /> Charles McClunin, Melissa Avenue also related concern toward the need <br /> for a general maintenance program to clean and check the spillway on a <br /> regular basis. <br /> In response, the Selectmen agreed to request the Harbormaster/Herring <br /> • Warden and a representative from the Conservation Commission attend <br /> the next scheduled Lake Management Committee meeting. The Town <br /> Manager indicated that she would also attend the meeting which is held at <br /> Town Hall on the fourth Tuesday of each month. <br /> Reorganization—Board of Selectmen: <br /> Chairman Cahalane welcomed newly elected Selectman Theresa Cook to <br /> the Board of Selectmen and opened the nomination process for the <br /> purpose of reorganization. <br /> Selectman Taylor voted to nominate Selectmen George Green to serve <br /> as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Selectman Cook seconded the nomination. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Green abstained. <br /> Selectman Green voted to nominate Selectman Wayne Taylor to serve <br /> Y Y <br /> as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Selectman Cook seconded the nomination. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Taylor abstained. <br /> • <br />
