Town of Mashpee <br />Annual Town Meeting Warrant <br />March 1. 1971 <br />The Commonwealth of Massachusetts <br />Barnstable as: <br />To the Constable of the Town of Mashpee <br />Greetings: <br />rM <br />In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, ,you are hereby directed <br />to and summons the inhabitants of the Town of Mashpee, who are qualified to <br />vote in elections, to meet at the Town Hall on Monday, the 1st day of March. <br />1971. at seven o'clock p.m. for the following purposes: <br />A quorum of 207 registered voters was present and the meeting was <br />called to order at 7:25 P.M. by Moderator, Williams Mills. A prayer was <br />offered by Mrs. Alice Lovett and a salute to the Flag followed. <br />To act on the articles contained in the following warrant. To meet <br />at the Town Hall the following Wednesday, March 3, 1971, to bring in their <br />votes "on the election of the following" officers: <br />One Selectman for three years <br />One Selectman for one ,year unexpired term <br />One Assessor member for three years <br />One Board of Health member for three years <br />One Board of Health member for one ,year unexpired term <br />One Tax Collector for three years <br />One Treasurer for three years <br />One Planning Board member for five ,years <br />One School Committee member for three ,years <br />One Cemetery Commissioner for three ,years <br />One Library Trustee member for three years <br />Two Park and Recreation members for three ,years <br />To vote on the following question: <br />Shall the Town vote to accept the provisions of Section fi-C of Chapter <br />forty of the General Laws, which authorizes cities and towns to appropriate <br />money for -the removal of snow and ice from private ways therein open to <br />public use? <br />The polls opened at 12 o'clock noon and were closed at 8:00 P.M. <br />Article 1. To choose all necessary town officials who are not elected <br />under the Australian Ballot System: <br />Burial Agent - Leigh Potter <br />Herring Warden - Warren Hicks <br />Harbor Master - Gordon Crowell <br />Finance Committee Members - two for three ,years - Ralph Rockwell - John Peters <br />Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept the Town Officers' <br />Reports or take any other action thereon. <br />Action: Motion made and seconded that article be accepted as presented <br />with special thanks to Mrs. Grace Houston for having Town Reports <br />ready early. <br />Article 3. To see if the Town will hear and act upon the reports of any <br />Committee for any purpose the Town may deem advisable. <br />Action: No reports to hear or act upon. <br />Article. 4, To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer, <br />with the approval. of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in antici- <br />pation of the revenue for the financial ,year beginning January 1, 1971, to <br />January 1, 1972, in accordance with the provisions of General Laws. Chapter 44, <br />Section 17. <br />
