33 8, <br />Zic <br />Special Town Meeting Page 4 Dec. 2, 1975 C� <br />(Article 13 (Continued) <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE with an amendment in line two striking out <br />the figures "1974" and inserting in place therein the word And figures "fiscal 1975), <br />striking out under the heading Hig way the words and figures "Chemical Corporation, <br />$657.89" and striking out under the heading Fire Department the wards "Unpaid Wages" <br />and inserting in place therein the words "Unpaid Salaries". <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to change Article 13: <br />Motion to reinsert Chemical Corporation, and add Falmouth Enterprise. <br />268 for and 62 opposed, Motion carries. <br />Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 13 as amended. Motion carries. <br />ARTICLE 14.. To see if the Town ill vote to construct a new Mashpee Community <br />Middle School to serve grades 4 - 8, or take any other action thereon. <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BUILDING NEEDS COMMITTEE <br />THE FINANCE COMMITTEE recognizes the need to construct a new Mashpee Middle School <br />to serve Grades 4 - 8. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as read. <br />Motion made and seconded to amend at a total cost not to exceed $4,000,000.00 <br />Amendment: 193 for, 155 opposed. <br />Amendment passes. <br />Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as amended. <br />Motion carries. <br />ARTICLE 15. To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum <br />of $32,000.00 for the cost of engineering and miscellaneous site expenses of the <br />new middle school project. <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN: <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BUILDING NEEDS COMMITTEE , <br />NO RECOMMENDATION BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE pending the vote on Article 14. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 15 be accepted as read. <br />Motion carries. <br />ARTICLE 16. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $298,000.00 for <br />the cost of architectural services for plans and specifications for the construction <br />of the new middle school described in Article 14 of this meeting, to be located on <br />land presently owned by the Town of Mashpee off Barnstable -Falmouth Road, and that <br />to raise such appropriation, the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, <br />be authorized to borrow the sum of $298,000.00 by the issue of bonds or notes, at <br />one time or from time to time, under and pursuant to Chapter 44, Section 7 (21) <br />of the General Laws as amended and supplemented, and that the Selectmen are hereby <br />authorized to appoint a School Building Committee consisting of eight (8) members <br />to take any and all action that may be required to implement this vote. <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br />SUBMITTED BY THE BUILDING NEEDS COMMITTEE <br />NO RECOMMENDATION BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE as the town has not yet indicated what <br />the cost of the proposed middle school shall be. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 16 be accepted as read. <br />Motion carried. 281 for, 23 opposed. <br />ARTICLE 17. To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum <br />of $50,000.00 for architectural services for plans and specifications for a new <br />Police and Fire Station to be located on town -owned land off Route #151. <br />SUBMITTED BY MUNICIPAL BUILDING SITES AND NEEDS COMMITTEE <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE with an amount of $23,000.00 instead of <br />$50,x.00. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to take from available funds $23,000,00 <br />for a new police and fire station, etc. Motion carried. <br />
