457 <br />Annual Town Meeting -2- May 7, 1979 <br />ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to assume liability <br />in the manner provided by Section 29 of Chapter 91 of the <br />General Laws as recently amended by Chapter 5, Acts of 1955, <br />for all damages that may be incurred by work to be performed <br />by the Department of Public Works of Massachusetts for the <br />improvement, development, maintenance and protection of tidal <br />and non -tidal rivers and streams and harbors, tidewaters, <br />foreshores and shores along a public beach in accordance with <br />Section XI of Chapter 91'of the General Laws, and authorize <br />the Selectmen to execute' and deliver a bond 'of' ihdemni'ty' ' <br />' therefor to the Commonwealth. <br />ACTION: Moved and seconded to accept Article 5 as read. <br />Motion carried. <br />ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will' vote to accept the pro- <br />visions of Chapter 48, Section 42, of the Massachusetts' <br />General Laws,' as amended from time to time, or take any other <br />action thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded to'accept Article,6 <br />as read. Motion carried. <br />ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise..and appro- <br />priate or transfer from available funds the sum of $20,448.00, <br />or any other -sum, to hire two full-time firefighters, or take <br />any other action thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded that.the.Town vote to <br />transfer from Revenue Sharing the sum of $20,448.00 to.hire <br />two full-time firefighters. Motion carried. <br />ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will approve additional com- <br />pensation of 7 perccent of each employee's salary, applying <br />to all non -elected full-time and part-time employees covered <br />by the Salary Administration Plan and excluding those.employ- <br />ees subject to collective bargaining agreements and those <br />official salaries set by the Board of Selectmen. This seven <br />per cent shall be in addition to the salary received by each <br />employee as presently provided for'in :the'Salary Administra- <br />tion Plan, and to raise and appropriate the -sum of $ ' , <br />to meet this'obligation'or take any other'action thereon: - <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded to amend Article 8 to <br />read:. To see if the Town will vote to fix the salaries <br />of the following elected officers As provided in Section 108, <br />Chapter 41, of the General Laws for the period of July 1, 1979 <br />to June 30, 1980, and to raise and appropriate•and/or trans - <br />fer from available funds such sums of money necessary to, <br />defray the Town's expense for the ensuing fiscal year.
