Charles: Nothing would be better than to say that we retire this entire hunk. Dick Terry: The question is: how far you are going to go. Some people have felt you should go all the way; then nothing. There is that kind of feeling too. Paulinet Your first step is this area down to about here where it is not thickly set- tled or populated. That is why I would say if you go the Scenic River about 100 yards, 300 feet. Because that is such a' beautiful place. Dick Terry: We can do what we want as a Planning Board. We.don't have to go by Scenic Rivers but more or less us it as a guideline. Pauline: . But where it is now in its natural state and has not built on .. • I was up to public hearing in Boston and inland waterways, general law 131, section 40A, is being voted on now. And that is giving them more land; they are going to enforce the 100 feet on our inland waterways. This is in addition to the 131, section 40. I haven't got the vote on it or if it has been passed by the legislature. Dick Terry: We are looking for support is what I am saying. We will try to put it to- gether as best we can and get it actually to the point where it is going,to get voted on. That is what we are looking for. Charles: We are looking at this, but what about the other side of Route 287 Pauline: They more or less brushed that aside at the last meeting. Dorothy: There is already a conservation restriction on the land just above 28. Paulinet Above that trustee and reservation owns that. And up above that is ten acres of Bingham's land. Barbarat Fish and wildlife are up there too. 2 Dick Terry: So you don't feel above 28 is a problem? Pauline: If you include the whole area, yes; below 28, no. Barbarat Would it make any sense for you, the Planning Board, to put something together and then maybe we could have a joint meeting and hash it out? Dick Terry: We will have to have a public hearing definitely. We will send out notices. February 4 we have to get something together and if we could say it was co-sponsored with you then we would like that. Dorothy: I don't think you will ever„•get 300 feet. Dick Terryt I don't think that we will get that either. I think 100 makes sense. And then cut it off right there. Pauline: Yes, because they are going to say the Wetlands, the conservation law and the Mashpee by-laws will protect the 100 any how.
