-3-
Dorothy:
3-
Dorot : Yes, he can cross it by applying for a special permit through us.
f Pauline: Anybody else have any questions?
Harbormaster: One question on this ACEC.
I
Pauline: This is why when the notice went out we were recommended to place it in
the notice of public hearing and it is specifically stated when it goes up to DEQE
that they know it is ACEC.
Harbormaster: So they did issue him a number?
Pauline: Yes; SE+3-112. So they are aware that it is in that area. The recommenda-
tion is that we have as little or no piers or docks in that area.
Dick: How many docks are in there now?
Pauline: This is one of those virgin areas. This is why there is a lot of considers-
tion and concern for this for the simple reason that the lots are all laid out.
Dorothy: Is this on the pond side or river side?
Pauline: It is inside the pond, Jehu Pond.
Charles: Discusses the pilings on the plan. Recommends pontoons be anchored out there
and be drawn in each year.
Bruce: I don't see how that is going to look any better. If you do it that way, you
are going to have things sticking out all through the summer. Personally, I don't think
a pontoon dock is nearly aesthetically beautiful as something with nice pilings.
Dick: How bad does it get in there in the winter time as far as damage?
Bruce: If you get a cold winter, at least the last two sections will be pulled up.
Charles: What is the drop in here, Bruce?
Bruce: No more than maybe one foot.
Pauline: National geographic shows between three and five feet of the whole pond.
Bruce: Everyone else that has a dock runs into the same problem. If you get a cold
enough winter, it is going to pull them up. If you want to have a dock, it is just one
of the things that you have to go through. But, I think that if you start setting a
policy now as to what kind of floats you would like to see in Jehu Pond area, if you
want to see the floating things, I can't see how it is going to look any better having
three or four floating sections going out from every lot maybe ten years from now as
opposed to a fixed piling dock.
Charles: Maybe I am going beyond that, Bruce. I would rather see no floats or docks
period. If everybody had a dinghy that he draws up, that he puts in and then rows out
to a mooring that is out in deep enough water to accommodate his boat.
Bruce: That is another way to look at it.
