-9-
Pauline: I have a letter from the Chief of Police on Conservation Officer, Ronald
Picknett. (Letter was read) Reference was made to this because we had to look up
a job description. y.
Dorothy: You cannot say Natural Resources Officer can follow the same job description
as the Conservation Officer. That is two separate things.
Barbaras Then why do they call it Conservation Officer in lieu of the Natural Resource
Officer?
Charles: He is called a lot of things in a lot of places.
Dorothy: The job description does no good at all in this case.
Barbaras Can't we complain a little bit. He is walking around with a pistol.
Charles: He would be stupid if he didn't. I requested with the selectmen that they form
a water resource committee for the town. I also requested that it consist of a member of
the Board of Health, a member of the Selectmenh staff or Selectmen, a member of the Con-
servation Commission and a member of the Planning Board. I was told to my surprise three
hours later that there will be a meeting February 20 regarding this.
Pauline: What time, where and when?
Charles: February 20 at 8 p.m, at the Planning Board. I have gave Jeannie copies of the
by-laws which have been gone over by the Board of People and they have received legal
. approval . ..
Pauline: Are you talking about Board of Health by-laws?
Charles No, these are not Board of Health by-laws.
Pauline: What kind of by-laws are you talking about?
Charlest There are two ways to go -- one is by general by-law and the other is by the
making of a Planning Board by-law -- the zoning by-laws.
Pauline: That is what I wanted to make clear.
Charles Jeannie has copies of them both and if you want copies, I am sure that she will
re-produce them for you so that you will know what they are. There are also copies of
them in the Board of Health office but it doesn't have the explanation and detail that I
had Jeannie re-copy today. I think that if we could get this through and create a water
zone for us, it would be a big step ahead. And the zone is still with some swamp. It is
the only one available to the town.
Pauline: That is your highest -- your Peters Pond. It is above sea level.
Charles: That is your highest water table. 'I don 't care where it is above sea level.
Pauline: Well, it make a difference. It contains more water. It has a foot more water
than we have in John's Pond.
Charles: This is the ideal spot. It is approved by USGS. But what scared me was when I
picked up the paper the other day and saw plans for Otis' Tank Watching Trap. Fortunately,
it is on the other side of the divide. But I want this enforced before they start digging
or putting it on this side.
