-2-
Dick: Where would you get your water?
Bruce: High Wood Water Co. But would that be a feasible thing to take out all that and
replace it with sand?
Pauline: That is not up to us to decide that. The septic system, Charles?
Charles: If he wants to go through the expense.
Pauline: How much fill would he have to put under the septic system if he takes all this
peat out?
Kent After 8 feet you have sand.
Bruce: You have course sand below the water table. So what Mrs. Anderson was saying is
dig a hole 8 feet deep and 25 feet in diameter -- build two of them -- and take out all
the peat and fill it all with sand -- 25 feet around the septic and- 25 feet around the
auxiliary area.
Charles: The auxiliary or standby area.
Pauline: Does that meet Title V?
Charles: It would if he did that.
Bruce: Would this Board have any objection in doing that?
Dorothy: Is this floodplain?
Bruce: Yes. It is only, I believe, 4.66 and you have to be up at 11 feet so your house
would have to be maybe 6 feet or 61.6 feet.
Dorothy: To my way of thinking, that is absolutely an unbuildable lot.
Pauline: I wouldn't recommend it.
Dick: Just the cost alone of trying to put a house up and then doing all of this.
Dorothy: You have all that excavation and refilling and then you have to bring the thing
up 7 feet.
Paulines I have checked with the Planning Board and the Zoning. When you are filling,
the law says you can only put in a 5 foot lift -- whatever that means.
Dorothy: Which law is this that you are talking about?
Paulinet Zoning or building.
Bruce: This would be on pilings. Does this mean that you would only be able to put the
pilings 5 feet?
kPauline: You wouldn't be able to fill.
Dorothy: That would never hold up in' courti not with the floodplain.
