-3-
Mr. Bunikis, cont,
scheme is bringing it a little closer to off set the house. One of the problems here
is because_of the steep bank in. front of this property. There is 'a very small area
horizontally and at high tide you would really have to bring the pier right against the
bank. I have provided steps on my pier so that any foot traffic that would come along
the beach could come up on the steps to cross over the pier and down again.
Pauline: When were the existing steps placed there? Did you place them there?
Mr. Bunikis: No.
Pauline: I do not believe that we have any record of the stairs being allowed to be
built there.
Mr. Bunikis: Nevertheless, .they are there and if they present a problem, I request the
Board to include that in our discussions and approval of this thing. Mr. Kariotis has
this as a summer home and he could answer that question better than I could,
Pauline: Mr. Kariotis came before us to build a house some time ago. Mrs. Studley was
Chairman at that time.
Dorothy: Is this going to be taken in seasonally?
Mr. Bunikis: The entire structure will be built so that it can be removed.
Pauline: Have you notified all abutters? (none of the abutters were present)
Mr. Bunikiss Submitted copies of the return receipts of people notified.
Pauline; Any questions from anybody?
Chet Koblinsky: I would like to ask a question. Why are we reaching out to 3 foot
dimensions?
Mr. Bunikis; We are reaching out so that we can get a depth of approximately 4 feet at
that float:
Chet: What is that 4 feet going to be -- mean low water?
Mr. Bunikis: That is mean low -- it certainly is. All these contours are based on mean
low,
Chet: The inlet to that pond is 2 feet at mean low water. Why do we need a dock extend-
ing way out to reach 4 feet in depth when you can't get in there over 2 feet?
Mr. Bunikis; That is news to me .if that condition does exist. Frankly, I was a little
amazed when taking the sounders that we did find this kind of depth.
Chet: As Harbor Master, I would be against 'a dock that far existing into the pond. It
would deprive a larger amount of people from mooring space. It also is not necessary to
go out that far when the approach is 2 feet.
Mr. Bunikis: At low water.
Chet: At low water. In other words, I think that would remove the necessity of going
out that far if the entrance is that shallow.
