2- .
Pauline: Why can't he make his float longer instead of the dock?
Atty. Smith: I don't know.
Pauline: That is what we did on ours on Great River.
Charles: He already has a 20 foot long float though.
Atty. Smith: He is going to haul it in at the end of the year.
I
Pauline: He will take them in December 1st and put them in May 1st and that is what
DEME wants.
Atty. Smith: No problem.
Pauline: DEQE is suggesting this but the Harbor Master would rather have plain moor-
ings. No piers, dock or otherwise.
Atty. Smith: Your statement of conditions is conflicting in #11.
Pauline: In your original plan, you had 72 feet of pier and we cut it down to 45 feet.
Atty. Smith: Right. Now what we are asking if you would cut it down to 60 feet then
we would be all set.
Ken: How long are the docks that are in there now? How long is your dock, Bruce?
Bruce Fulton: Thirty feet.
Pauline: That's all; that is all that is allowed.
Bruce Fulton: It is like anything else around here. You have to play the tide. Dead
low tide you are not going anywhere. Medium tide I have about 2 to 2Z feet. You could
have a hundred foot dock and you are still not going to get out of there at low tide.
Pauline: that is why it was stopped at 45 feet. That was more or less at the request
of the Harbor Master which is going through with the Corps of Engineers if it is passed.
The Harbor Master is up in arms.
Atty. Smith: Mr. Kariotisis aware of the Harbor Master's opposition. This isn't a
threat, but we are going to have to appeal it. I would hope you would go along with it
as it is of no use as it is now and there is a conflict in the order as it stands.
Charles: This pier will be lifted.
Atty. Smith: Yes, sir. It is designed so that the whole thing comes out.
Ken: What if there is a torn by-law that prohibited piers in that pond. Is there a
grandfather clause that you couldn 't go back and take piers out?
Atty. Smith: Gee, I couldn't answer that.
Pauline! This becomes a legal document because it is registered at the Registry of
Deeds. It is a covenant to their deed. How you would work that out you would have
to check with the Conservation Law Foundation.
Ken: It is my .)e:-sona.l opinion that I would rather see all moorings in there without
docks, but if they are going to put docks in you might as well give the guy a dock a
