The committee has involved the Board of Selectmen, Veterans and they think it
irlstruimental for this Committee fo be involved.
Plan for the Park
A key feature of the park is the existing trees. Most of the lot is now covered with trees and the
plan is to maintain that as much as possible.
A Veterans Memorial is planned, with a round landscaped pathway and granite Veterans
memorial. There are currently 6 memorials throughout the community which will be relocated
here, around the walkway. Thee will be a flagpole in the middle.
Another key feature is improvements to the rest area at the sandy shoulder on Route 130. It will
by improved and trees planted. It is a good location for a kiosk to announce community events.
A bandstand platform is planed, behind the memorial and treed area, hopefully with electricity.
In the bullnose area, near the intersection of Route 130 and Great Neck Road North, is plans for
planting of a liberty elm. There is a program which has developed a disease resistant strain of
American Elm and the town hopes to participate in that program. This area may have to be
relocated because of re-design o the intersection. This may shift the entire part to the west.
1
