Overview
Ms. Adams has suggested that this section, which is a description of the district, should
include photos and architectural examples in the final draft. The possibility of using current
photos, which would need to be taken,of what currently exists in the District or use sketches
of architectural details, as well as including some definitions of the details was also
discussed. Ms. Gurney indicated that she may have some examples from other committees
that she could share with Mr. Picard.
The 1910 Walker historic map referenced in the Overview, is a good illustration of the
historic area and shows the center of Mashpee. Ms. Adams will look into locating the map.
Other photos to be considered as examples include the Indian Museum and Parsonage.
Some concern was expressed that it may send the wrong message, as they will now be part
of the Mashpee Wampanoag reservation and exempt from the District regulations, but Mr.
Mills felt it would be acceptable and others added that they would be great examples of
historic architecture.
2
