Two positions on the Commission remain open at this time, the Tribal Representative and
Resident of the District position_ The By-law provides that the Resident of the District position
could be held by a property owner in the District. The deadline has passed for filling these
positions so the Selectmen can now make an appointment to fill these positions.
Since the Commission has a quorum with four members present, Mr. Fudala suggested
that the Commission vote to approve as a draft the Manual's Section 6-Design Guidelines and
Section 7B-Commission Regulations so that a hearing can be scheduled and an ad be placed in
the newspaper. Ms. Dami suggested that the Hearing also be posted on the town's website.
Commission members agreed that.the meeting will begin on Wednesday,June 18 at 4:30
p.m. and the Hearing will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the same day. Concern was expressed regarding
the time of the Hearing, however the Planning Board is scheduled to meet in the same room at
7:00 p.m. The Commission is unclear how large attendance will be, but if the meeting exceeds
the 7:00 p.m.timeframe they may be able to reconvene at another available space. The Chair
called for a motion regarding the Hearing.
Motion made by Mr.Mullin to hold the Historic District meeting at 4:30 p.m. and the
Public Hearing at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday,June 18. Motion seconded by Mr. Robbins.
All voted unanimously.
The Chair called for a motion for approval on the Guidelines and Regulations.
Motion made by Mr. Mullin to accept the May 16 Draft of Guidelines (Section 6) and
Regulations(Section 713)for the June 18 meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Robbins. All
voted unanimously.
Ms. Dami has recommended the May 16 Draft be made available on the town's website
and has offered to work with Mr. Stello and Dave to place it on the website. Since the Historic
District Commission does not yet have its own website, the office of the Town Clerk would be
willing to host the Draft until other arrangements can be made. Additionally, a public news flash
can be emailed to the addresses of anyone who has subscribed to receive public notices. The
news flash could then include details that would direct interested parties to visit the Town's
website for more information.
Old Business:
May 7, 2008 Meeting Minutes
Mr. Picard recommended a correction to the minutes on page 4, #2 Chimneys under B.
Architectural Features. His recommendation was to delete the end of the sentence so that it reads
only "The original chimney should be maintained." This statement is reflective of the wording
in the Historic District Manual. The Chair called for a motion to accept the amended minutes.
Motion made by Mr.Mullin to amend the minutes and accept the amended minutes of the
May 7,2008 meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Robbins. All voted unanimously.
3
