3 Board of Selectmen Minutes April 12, 2017 Present: Selectman Gottlieb, Selectmen Cahalane, Selectman O'Hara, Selectman Cotton, Selectman Sherman Town Manager Rodney C. Collins Assistant Town Manager Wayne E. Taylor Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Gottlieb at 6:30 p.m. Mashpee Town Hall, Waquoit Meeting Room MINUTES Wedtigiday,March 22 2017 Regplar Session and Monda March 27 2017 Regular Session: Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the minutes of Wednesday,March 22,2017 and Monday,March 27,2017 as presented. Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed,none APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS Public Comment: None at this time. Approval of various applications: Mash ee Commons 2017 Summer Events Schedule MM Derr: Mary Derr,Marketing Director of Mashpee Commons was before the Board to review the annual list of summer events planned to be held in Mashpee Commons in calendar year 2017. The schedule is similar to past events. Activities include block party events, sidewalk sales, and live entertainment. This season the block party events will be combined with the sidewalk festivals. Live entertainment includes jugglers,musicians and a bouncy play area for the children. With respect to the liability associated to the use of a bouncy play area, it was disclosed the Town's Insurance; MIIA has requested the Town of Mashpee abstain in terms of sponsorship of bounce-house related activities. It was recommended that Mashpee Commons further review the liabilities associated to this type of event in the matter of safety. Ms. Derr was in agreement, and indicated if it is warranted, an alternative activity would be planned for the children. Some of the events in Mashpee Commons coordinated by other agencies would require specific approval from the Board of Selectmen at a separate meeting for one-day liquor licenses.
