11 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 24, 2017 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Update from the Town Manager and discussion on John's Pond: <br /> In response to a complaint regarding John's Pond conservation and beach abuse <br /> Town Manager Rodney C. Collins updated the Board on this matter. After meeting with <br /> applicable Town departments both short and long term goals have been recommended. <br /> At this time,the Police Department has increased bike patrols in the area effective until Labor Day. The <br /> Harbormaster has increased enforcement, and has issued two citations this past weekend for compliance <br /> regarding safety. Enforcement,presence and visibility is the key. There is also a plan in effect today to <br /> delineate the swim area along with other initiatives for safety. <br /> It is the recommendation of Town Manager Rodney C. Collins to discontinue the one-day passes <br /> effective August 1, 2017. <br /> In further discussing this matter it was noted that complaints arose at the Mashpee-Wakeby Pond this <br /> past weekend. It was recommended that multi-lingual signage be posted. After considering restrictions, <br /> it was fully agreed the Town Manager and enforcement agencies of the Town would develop the <br /> rules and regulations as applicable. The Town Manager and his enforcement team were applauded for <br /> taking action on this matter. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to discontinue the one-day passes effective August 1,2017. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Opposed,none <br /> Discussion of CgMMuni <br /> h Com act Grant: <br /> Lieutenant Governor Karyn Politio is scheduled to sign-off on a grant agreement on behalf of the <br /> Secretary of the Executive Office for Administration and Finance on Tuesday at the Mashpee Town <br /> Hall. The Community Compact Grant,not to exceed$20,000 would assist the Town of Mashpee in the <br /> development of a Wage and Salary Classification Pian. The signing will take place at 3:00 p.m. <br />
