4 Board of Selectmen Minutes August 7, 2017 APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS Review and approval of various applications: Application forspecial event P le Flag Relay—Run for Recover Oen Doorwa of Ca e Cod Inc.: Joan Peters-Gilmartin was in attendance on behalf of the Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. to request permission to hold a relay run that would pass through the Town of Mashpec on September 23, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Peters-Gilmartin indicated this is the third year of the Run For Recovery relay. The volunteer non-profit organization; Open Doorway of Cape Cod relies heavily on this fundraiser. The goal of the event continues to be raising awareness about the public health epidemic of addiction. Last year,the Town of Mashpee Police Department had an outstanding team and it is hopeful other relay teams will continue with the momentum. One purple flag is planted on Police Department lawns to create an active partnership with public safety. The final relay flag is place at the Provincetown Police Department. Stipulations regarding this event were imposed by Town regulatory officials and outlined in a memorandum from Terrie Cook; Administrative Assistant dated August 3, 2017 to the Board of Selectmen. Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the Special Events Application of the Open Doorway of Cape Cod,Inc. Purple Flag Relay subject to the conditions as listed on the application. Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Opposed,none Application for special event La Tavola-change of venue,Mashnee Chamber of Commerce: An amended Special Events Application was presented by Tom O'Neill on behalf of the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce to change the venue of the annual La Tavola event. After review it was determined the venue would be changed from the intersection of Fountain Street and Market Street in Mashpee Commons to Steeple Street at the intersection of Job's Fishing Road and the Mashpee Public Library. Mr. O'Neill explained this would alleviate a potential change in the location from year to year. The maximum number of tickets for the available space has been sold. The Special Events Application includes a One-Lay License to sell beer and wine at the 10th Annual La Tavola Celebration on Saturday, August 11, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The scheduled rain date is August 12, 2017. The amended application was transmitted to the various Town departments without additional requirements and/or comments.
