4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 7, 2017 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Review and approval of various applications: <br /> Application forspecial event P le Flag Relay—Run for Recover Oen Doorwa of Ca e Cod Inc.: <br /> Joan Peters-Gilmartin was in attendance on behalf of the Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. to request <br /> permission to hold a relay run that would pass through the Town of Mashpec on September 23, 2017 <br /> from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Peters-Gilmartin indicated this is the third year of the Run For <br /> Recovery relay. The volunteer non-profit organization; Open Doorway of Cape Cod relies heavily on <br /> this fundraiser. The goal of the event continues to be raising awareness about the public health epidemic <br /> of addiction. Last year,the Town of Mashpee Police Department had an outstanding team and it is <br /> hopeful other relay teams will continue with the momentum. One purple flag is planted on Police <br /> Department lawns to create an active partnership with public safety. The final relay flag is place at the <br /> Provincetown Police Department. <br /> Stipulations regarding this event were imposed by Town regulatory officials and outlined in a <br /> memorandum from Terrie Cook; Administrative Assistant dated August 3, 2017 to the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the Special Events Application of the Open <br /> Doorway of Cape Cod,Inc. Purple Flag Relay subject to the conditions as listed on the <br /> application. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Opposed,none <br /> Application for special event La Tavola-change of venue,Mashnee Chamber of Commerce: <br /> An amended Special Events Application was presented by Tom O'Neill on behalf of the Mashpee <br /> Chamber of Commerce to change the venue of the annual La Tavola event. After review it was <br /> determined the venue would be changed from the intersection of Fountain Street and Market Street in <br /> Mashpee Commons to Steeple Street at the intersection of Job's Fishing Road and the Mashpee Public <br /> Library. Mr. O'Neill explained this would alleviate a potential change in the location from year to year. <br /> The maximum number of tickets for the available space has been sold. The Special Events Application <br /> includes a One-Lay License to sell beer and wine at the 10th Annual La Tavola Celebration on Saturday, <br /> August 11, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The scheduled rain date is August 12, 2017. The amended <br /> application was transmitted to the various Town departments without additional requirements and/or <br /> comments. <br />
