Mr. Donald Perry appeared for the Cape and Vineyard
Electric Company and Mr. William Livingston appeared for the New
England Telephone Company. Mr. Perry advised the board that under
the current legislation a special increased rate could be requested
by the electric company if this article is passed. He also stated
that as far as he knew we would be the first town in the Commonwealth
to pass this ordinance. Mr. Perry also stated that this proposal
would create many problems for the electric company. Mr. Livingston
stated that the telephone company was in position to conform with
the article and it was the belief that the town of Milton had already
adopted this article.
After considering the possibility of increased rates, the board
decided to withdraw this article from the Town Warrant and so notify
the Selectman's Clerk.
A public hearing was held on the revision of the subdivision
control laws to require that all utility wiring be placed underground
in future subdivisions. Both Mr. Perry and Mr. Livingston indicated
their approval of this article. There was no opposition. Mr. Umina
and Mr. Perry discussed the developers cost of providing underground
electrical wiring.
It was unanimous agreed by the board that our subdivision
control laws would be revised to include this article.
