No Name Calling Day: <br /> Ms. Farren indicated that the No Name Calling Day sign has been returned to Quashnet School in <br /> preparation for the event. Any Committee members able to visit the school could add their signature to <br /> the sign now located in the lobby of the school. <br /> Future No Place for Hate Activities: <br /> The Committee discussed a variety of additional No Place for Hate programs to organize in Mashpee. <br /> The Committee agreed that it would be helpful to invite Ms. Zuber to attend the next meeting to <br /> provide insight about the program as well as provide additional information regarding Ms. Fernades' <br /> project. The Committee discussed hosting a follow up event to Challenge Day that would be open to <br /> the entire community and would reinforce the ideas discussed at Challenge Day. It had been <br /> recommended that the "Resolution of Respect"be introduced during a follow up activity. Ms. Vaughn <br /> recommended a town wide essay contest featuring a panel of judges and different criteria for each of <br /> the age groups participating. Mr. Perry recommended a Film Festival that would be inclusive for many <br /> people throughout the community. An appropriate film would be featured, followed by a discussion <br /> session. The film could be hosted by the Senior Center or High School Library and rotated each year. <br /> Ms. Farren distributed copies of the"Qualifying Activities"from No Place for Hate to review <br /> suggested projects. Members expressed interest in possibly meeting with other communities in the No <br /> Place for Hate program. Committee members also expressed interest in a Walk/Run of Respect, <br /> Dance, Cookbook, Quilt and Potluck Dinner. Ms. Farren indicated that a senior dance was sponsored <br /> and chaperoned by the Committee in the past. Ms. Farren mentioned that the Committee attended the <br /> Cape Cod Community College Multicultural Event and distributed a lot of information about No Place <br /> for Hate, with the assistance of volunteer Boy Scouts troops. Ms. Zuber would be helpful in sharing <br /> additional ideas and tips about implementing some of the activities. Ms. Farren added that in May,the <br /> Anti Defamation League hosts an event in Boston in conjunction with recertification. Last year, <br /> special training in diversity was offered. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Meetings: <br /> Ms. Farren suggested that due to budget cuts, the Committee might consider meeting every other <br /> month or as needed, unless the Committee wishes to leave the schedule as it is,meeting monthly, and <br /> discuss it at a later date. Committee members like meeting once per month, unless something comes <br /> up. The Committee discussed the membership as 9 members,with a quorum of 5. The Committee <br /> does not presently have a full membership. Ms. Farren mentioned the possibility of hosting speakers <br /> each monthly meeting as well as the possibility of teaming up with other community No Place for Hate <br /> programs to share an event. <br /> MEETING ADJOURNMENT: <br /> The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> .le fer M.
