Finance Committee <br /> March 11 , 19$6 <br /> Page 2 . a <br /> Firefighters/Lieutenant ' s 292 , 102 . 28 <br /> Salary <br /> Wage Account 175t853 , 00 <br /> Expense Account 107 , 000 . 00 <br /> TOTAL $6509985 - 32 <br /> Chief Hartin also explained the Article that has been <br /> submitted for the Annual Town Meeting for the purchase of a <br /> triple combination pumping engine . <br /> This article would be for the replacement of the Department ' s <br /> 1970 Ward LaFrance engine , which would be retained and moved to <br /> second due status for structural firefighting , <br /> Chief Hartin cited the following reasons for replacement , <br /> Age of the apparatus <br /> Necessity for adequate reserve capacity <br /> Condition of the cab and body of the 1970 engine - <br /> here is a great deal of body rot and the compartments <br /> are not water tight -- 'this engine will be repaired <br /> following the delivery of a replacement <br /> Timeframe for repairing the cab and body would <br /> be 3 - 6 months <br /> Need to reduce the load carried on the Department ' s <br /> 2500 gallon tanker and maintain water carrying <br /> capacity <br /> Need for additional apparatus capacity due to <br /> town growth <br /> Long term apparatus needs necessitating the <br /> distribution of capital expenditures to allow <br /> .relatively even replacement periods <br /> Hartin further explained that the particular - configuration ' <br /> .for the new engine was determined by Lt . Charles Dottrid e and <br /> the p-par- tu om�mitLee based on the above cited factors and the <br /> .actical needs of the department . The department would propose <br /> �he purchase of a custom sedan cab apparatus with a 1500 gallon <br /> per minute pump and 1000 gallon water tank . Martin explained <br /> that the going price range for this apparatus fully equipp d <br /> would be $130 , 000 $150 , 000 with approximately 7 months needed <br /> for delivery . <br />
