Ernie felt that $30 , 000 would be
plenty of money for the job .
The Finance Committee was in agreement with the article
for $7 , 500 for trim painting of the Police station and garage ,
Fire station and smokehouse , and the senior Citizen ' s Centex and
small building .
The article for money for the expansion of the existing _
cemetery . was agreed to by the Finance Committee and the figure
set at $ , o .
Thomas Fudala , "Town Planner , joined the Finance Committee -
to discuss proposed conservation land acquisition articles and
the article requesting an Assistant Town Planner .
Fudala noted that the town is working in conjunction with
the State Division of Fisheries and Wildlife on the acquisition
of conservation land . They ' h-ave expressed their interest in
three parcels of land . Fudala .felt that it might be appropriate
to amend the article to provide for purchase of the properties
by the town "unless they -are acquired within one year by the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts mor some ether entity for conservation
purposes . " Appraisals for the properties are underway and should
be in around - mid-April . He expressed his hope that firm numbers
or option agreements could be reached before the town meeting .
Total acreage involved is 59 . 5 and the cost estimate is
$1 , 0407000 . It is estimated that half of this will be paid
by self-help grants . Fudala , showed the Finance Committee
where the parcels of land were on a map and said he would make
another map available to thea. He noted that a lot of things
were still up in the air but that he would keep the Finance
Committee up to date on all issues regarding the lana acquisition
articles .
The article for an Assistant Town Planner , would be a two
year contract . It is hoped that at the end of two years things
in town will have settled down a little bit and the services of
an Assistant Town Planner not required . If this proves not to
be the case , the article will have to go back to Town Meeting .
The salary for the first year is set at $22 , 000 . The Finance
Committee was in agreement that an Assistant Town Planner is
needed .
The Shellfish Commission joined the Finance Committee to
discuss thein FY87 budget .
