<br /> Town Planner, Thomas Fudala,reque ted a transfer of $300 from the Reserve Fuad to
<br /> the Selectmen's out of State Travel Fund. He plans to attend a planners convention
<br /> in Montreal and could not use his expense account for this event. The cost of the
<br /> registration is $210, $115 air fare, and approximately $ o for the hotel. The transfer
<br /> was unanimously approved.
<br /> Members of the Board of SElectmen, Willard Hanson and Jean Thomas, Executive Secretary,
<br /> Joseph Murphy, and Town Accountant, Vern Polka were also present.
<br /> new handout was presented by Mr.--Murphy changing growth.-L. from $20 million $228,000
<br /> to $25 million $285,000 and Estimated Focal Receipts from $600,000 to $625,000 for
<br /> a new total revenue available to $6,982,862. Projected Expenses also changed, from
<br /> $7,994,361 to $7,163, 199.
<br /> The Board of Selectmen agreed to place on the ballot a 2 Exemption for "old Debt'
<br /> in the amount of $444,929. The voters will be shown how the town plans to use these
<br /> funds, if approved, by a handout showing what this will mean, such as: Data Processing,
<br /> Test Well Program, $26,3.54, Red Brook Road Engineering $25,000, shellfish Reseeding
<br /> $20,000, 4 teachers and 2 aides $125,000, 1 firefighter $28,300 (changed by the
<br /> Fire Chief) , Police officer $11,200, outreach Coordinator $9,600, cruisers $34,000
<br /> and preliminary plans for the school $15,000, which totals to approximately $4009000.
<br /> If the exemption does not pass, the above articles could not be approved. The DPT
<br /> Dump True $45,000 and Water Supply Engine/dose $115,129 were included in the exemption
<br /> but excluded due to the suggestion
<br /> of Selectmen Hanson. The Finance Committee agreed
<br /> that the equipment i necessary, the town could not fund therm at this time and replaced
<br /> them with several items listed above.
<br /> Proposed new positions as agreed upon by the Selectmen, 'Town Clerk's Clerk (part time) ,
<br /> Police Administrative Assistant (part time) , outreach Coordinator and Conservation
<br /> Officer $24,255. The sElectrmen dirt not recommend the Town Hail Clerk, Building Inspector
<br /> part time Clerk, DPW Clerk and Custodian. The police officer, firefighter, outreach
<br /> coordinator and teachers and aides were included in the 2 exemption; total $39,855.
<br /> The following Capital Projects were not recommended by the Selectmen: Municipal
<br /> Building & Deeds Committee - o - as funds are not needed at this time, Dredging and
<br /> Library funds not needed this year, CPW crew cab true , trash compactor, facilities
<br /> for handicapped, DPW gas station. Severl capital project items were included in the
<br /> debt exclusion.
<br /> After discussing the above, expenses needed to be cut further and agreed as follows -
<br /> articles- will be removed or recommend against - Tables/chairs $2000, plan holding
<br /> stand $795, Furniture $1021, Recreation Center renovation $2300. It was discussed
<br /> j whether to remove articles; Mr. Hanson strongly in favor, Mrs. Thomas disagreed.
<br /> Mr. Manson will talk to-major department heads regarding the warrant.
