Auss. <br />;INANCE COMMITTEE <br /> i <br /> Finance Committee Minutes <br /> November 14, 1984 <br /> Present : Frederic Blythe, Jane Peterson, Avis McKinley, Elizabeth Terry and <br /> William Towner. The Capital Improvement Committee, Board of Selectmen,and <br /> Vern Polka, Town Accountant, were present for all or part of the meeting. <br /> John Ferguson, Capital Program Committee, stated that Fire Chief, Edward <br /> Hartin, brought three articles before their committee: 1 ambulance, 2 vehicle <br /> for his use, 3 new fire engine. The committee felt that their first priority <br /> would be the ambulance as it would best serge the town. The second priority <br /> would be the vehicle. The ambulance would be available six months after placing <br /> the order. <br /> The Finance Committee agreed that new positions should not be created at a special <br /> town meeting, but rather at the annual town meeting, due to the number of voters <br /> necessary to form a quorum. <br /> The special town meeting articles, were- discussed and voted on as fellows: <br /> 1. New ambulance $87,500. Bids will be opened on November 28. vote: 3 - l <br /> (Jane Peterson opposing) . <br /> 2. Fire Department, 1 tori pickup truck, 4 wheel drive, $18,'000. Chief Isatin <br /> felt the department needed this type of equipment in order to use their sled. <br /> The committee felt this type of vehicle is net needed. The committee will <br /> invite Chief Hartin to the November mber 2 meeting and will recommend vehicle <br /> at that time. <br /> 3. Communication system for public safety departments, $60,000 with a possibility <br /> of $30,000 reimbursement from the state. The new system would accommodate <br /> two dispatchers. The recent police study suggested two dispatchers during <br /> the summer months. The committee felt that more than one estimates. should b <br /> obtained for this equipment, and since t-he state reimbursement has not been confirmed, <br /> they could not recommend article at this time. <br /> 4. Selectmen Secretarial Wage Account, $2500. Funds are needed in this account <br /> due the absence of the secretary for an extended period of time (illness) . <br /> William Towner moved to recommend, Jane Peterson seconded motion, the committee <br /> unanimously agreed. <br /> . Create a full time position as administrative secretary to the Board of Appeals, <br /> Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Town Planner; secretary to work <br /> duking the day. Motion was made by Jane Peterson to recommend; unanimous <br /> vote. ($89593) <br /> . $6,800 to recodify regulations, by-laws, and administrataive rules. Cost <br /> would be off set by sale of the volume. William Towner moved to recommend; <br /> vote unanimous. <br /> . Copy machine $5500. Present machine would be mored to the lower level. <br /> Pias will be opened November 26. vote will be taken at the November 2 meeting. <br /> i <br />
