The committee did not wish to change <br /> their recommendation of $2000. r <br /> 33. Mr. Chester I oblins i spode on articles 33 and 34. The first article was for <br /> $49.3.5.04 to purchase two 1.4 feet, dory type, fiberglass boats, including 1 <br /> horsepower motors. one of the- wooden boats -n bei'rig. used by this department <br /> F i1, <br /> aril l be retained; the other will b r sola--o a dis s d ±: 'J e, ete n. <br /> moved to recommend article; unanimous vote. ` <br /> 34. $3000 for shellfish seed. The committee wanted more information regarding <br /> this program an.d will hold their recommendation until December 3. <br /> 3 . $28,064 for two full-tine firefighters, Chief Hartin spoke on several articles <br /> which he submitted. The fixe department .recently lost 2 call firefighters. <br /> At the November 14 meeting the committee recommended indefinitely postponing <br /> this article. The committee discussed recommending one new firefighter and <br /> part of the hose requested in article 37. The consensus was to hold the <br /> vote until December 3, at ihich time hief' Hartin will reconsider articles <br /> 35 and 37. The committee suggested approving approximately $47,000 for a <br /> combination of articles. <br /> 37. Se -' rt idle 3 . , <br /> 41. $3600 to replaceiring at the ponce fire complex. Jame Peterson roved to <br /> recommend; unanimous vote. <br /> 42. council on Aging , outreach o rdi ator. Mr. Larry Frazier, Council on Aging, <br /> spode on this article6. The council is seeking a $3000 grant for this worker . <br /> and hope to have answer whether- funds are available by December 3'. . The Council <br /> is seeking $4192.50 for this position but would decreases request b $3000 if grant is <br /> ava*lable. Ths individual would work 25 hours a weep and would be eligible <br /> for Blue Cross and pension benefits. The committee will vote on this article <br /> n December 3 pending the outcome of the grant. <br /> 44. Hire additional police officers. Police hief, -Curtis Frye, asked the committee <br /> to reconsider this article. He telt it is in the best interest of the town <br /> to hire police officers now since 13 weeps of training are:_requ_ire d; training <br /> to start raid-Uanuary, jif the officers were hiredat t the annual town meeting, <br /> their training would be completed in September. Since he will meed the <br /> officers in the summer, he felt they should be hired now. Jane Peterson moved <br /> to recommend the requested amount of $23,390; unanimous vote. <br /> 4 . $899 for police camera. The camera now being used is 14 years old; quality <br /> f pictures very poor. The new camera would be used for mug shots, and various <br /> identification -cards- and permit <br /> 466' $3000 to purchase' a microcomputer for the Town Planner. Mr. Fudala would <br /> lice to purchase an Apple II because he can get free software. He felt there <br /> would be three basic uses for the computer - word processing, file and spread <br /> sheet and for special projects. He also felt that he could tie in several <br />
