Mr. Karson is proposing to monitor the ponds every other year with yearly
sampling taking place in April
Mallory Langler made a motion that the Board of Health reduce the testing for John's Pond and Ashumet Pond
to every other year with each pond-tested once yearly in April. If there are test results of any concern, it must
be reported to the Board of Health. Laurel Almquist seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously
approved.
Mr. Karson went on to discuss municipal hookups. Several properties have been connected to Town Water at
the expense of the Air Force. Twenty-three new area private wells have been researched and identified with
possible PFC contamination. The results are pending and should be available soon. The Air Force has the
resources to connect 15 additional properties to Town Water.
For the past 18 months the Air Force has been providing bottled water to Lakeside Estates and working to
connect the park to Town Water. For the past three weeks they have been performing the disinfection test on
the water main. The individual connections cannot take place until it passes that test. The disinfection test
finally passed today after seven attempts. Now the Air Force will be able to move forward and possibly
complete the work within the next six weeks.
The Mashpee Village public supply well is still inoperable because of PFC contamination. The Air Force has
funding for this fiscal year to work with the U.S. Army Corps on a rapid response contract for well head
treatment. The well is expected to be operational before next summer.
7.30 PM — Russell Lowe—Variance Request—Irrigation Well — 110 Wheeler Road.
